Capcom's Street Fighter series has just celebrated its 30th anniversary, with the first game in the franchise hitting arcades back in 1987! The original game only had two playable characters - Ryu and Ken. The original game was later ported to the PC Engine CD / TurboGrafx CD, as well as the various 8-bit home computers that were popular throughout the 1980's such as the Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, and Amiga. Surprisingly, the game was never released on a Nintendo or SEGA console. A sequel, Street Fighter II, was released in 1991 and took the world by storm, but notably on the Super Nintendo home console where it received several improved versions (such as Super Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter II Turbo) which are still played in tournaments around the world today! Often hailed as the greatest fighting game of all time, Super Street Fighter II offered a wider roster of playable character, 16-bit animated backdrops, as well as a plethora of new special moves! The franchise remains one of Capcom's tent-pole franchises, having spawned several spin-offs from the main series, as well as several feature-length films. To celebrate this monumental series, here's a collection of Displate artwork by artist Soulkr Design, based on the main characters of Super Street Fighter II.
