It has been twelve years since we last saw a Star Trek TV series, but tonight sees the debut of the all new Star Trek: Discovery! The show will be aired on CBS' All Access subscription service in the United States, and Netflix elsewhere in the world, with the first season comprising of fifteen episodes. Set ten years prior to the historic 5-year mission of Kirk's Enterprise, the show centres primarily around the second-in-command of the U.S.S. Discovery, and will also feature several recurring characters from other Star Trek series such as Harcourt Fenton Mudd and Spock's father, Sarek. The show is rumoured to cost around $8-$8.5 million per episode - a budget that is unprecedented for a TV show! To celebrate the Star Trek franchise, here's a collection of Displate artwork by artist John Child, featuring many of the iconic Federation starships and starbases as seen in previous Star Trek shows and motion pictures, including several iterations of the U.S.S. Enterprise!
