The overall design of the six chess pieces has not changed much since the original inception of the game, although the powers given to each piece has evolved over time, acquiring their current abilities in Spain during latter half of the 15th century. The rules of the game were standardised during the 19th century, which also included advanced moves such as "Castling" and "En Passant". Artist Michael Little has taken a centuries-old game and given it a steampunk spin, with this matching set of steampunk-inspired chess pieces. This Displate set takes the classic pieces - Pawn, Rook, Knight, Bishop, Queen, and King - and presents them as mobile metal characters on tricycles! This fantastic set would look great in a public space or in a games room or library!
