Friday The 13th was originally intended to be a cash-in after the phenomenal success and popularity of the slasher horror film, Halloween, a few years earlier. The Friday The 13th franchise dominated throughout the 1980's, with eight films in just nine years! The franchise currently has twelve entries in the series, and is one of the industry's most successful media franchises to date - primarily due to the recurring popular culture references, and extensive merchandising. Despite only being acquired in the third film in the series, Jason Voorhees' instantly recognisable hockey mask has become an iconic pop culture symbol, as well as being an icon for the horror genre overall. The films are known for their reasonably low budgets and relatively high box office takings, with all films the franchise making a considerable amount of profit compared to their initial budget. To celebrate this iconic franchise, here's a selection of Displate artwork featuring the serial killer, Jason Voorhees!
