Edward Scissorhands was the brainchild of popular eccentric film producer, director, writer, artist, and animator, Tim Burton. After previously having had successes with Beetlejuice and Batman, Burton turned his hands to a whimsical dark fantasy story about a social outcast called Edward who has scissor blades instead of fingers. Edward is befriended by the local Avon lady, Pat Boggs, who takes him home to meet her family and neighbours. At first Edward finds it hard to fit in with his new surroundings, but soon gets accepted by the neighbours once they realise how to put his talents to good use, such as cutting hair, and pruning bushes into fantastic topiaries. Peg's daughter, Kim, finds herself attracted to Edward, and him to her, but when things go awry in the neighbourhood Edward is forced back into exile. The film is notable for its relatively dark comedic tone - something that has become synonymous with Tim Burton. To celebrate this iconic film, here's a selection of Displate artwork based on the character of Edward Scissorhands.
