Blade Runner is Ridley Scott's 1982 neo-noir sci-fi crime drama, loosely based on a 1968 novel, Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, and set to a futuristic sounding soundtrack by Vangelis. The film is set in a not-too-distant dystopian future version of Los Angeles, where synthetic humans called Replicants are manufactured to be utilised on off-world colonies. When a rogue faction of self-aware Replicants manage to find their way back to Earth, veteran cop, Rick Deckard, agrees to postpone his impending retirement in order to track them down. Throughout the investigation, Deckard meets a more advanced Replicant called Rachael who causes him to question both his mission and his self-being. The film was not as successful at the box office as expected, but has since become of of sci-fi's most significant films, and has also attracted a cult following over the last 35 years. The film has also undergone several different director's cuts during that time, as well as spawning a sequel, Blade Runner 2049, due out in cinemas this weekend! To celebrate this iconic film, here's a collection of Displate artwork based on the various imagery from the franchise.
