First appearing in the late 1990s to rival Tamagotchi virtual pet toys, Digimon fast became popular in anime, manga, and video games. Featuring digital monsters, the franchise is very similar in premise to that of Nintendo's Pokémon, albeit set in a parallel digital world. The various digital monsters usually team-up with their human counterparts in order to battle evil Digimon and human villains who are intent on destroying the fabric of the digital world. The virtual toy line by Bandai enjoyed moderate success around the world, but the franchise only really became popular after the introduction of the anime TV series, and later, the breakthrough into video games. The franchise is now over 20 years old, and is still popular amongst otaku. Here's a selection of sumi-é Displate artwork by artist Soulkr Design based on some of the more frequently seen Digimon characters.
Online Battle Royale first-person-shooter, Fortnite, seems to have changed the online multiplayer landscape considerably since it smashed its way onto home consoles and mobile devices several months ago! The epic 100-player mode made waves throughout the gaming industry not only for its visuals and gameplay, but also for its "Free-To-Play" business model that sees game developers, Epic Games, earn revenue from various micro-transactions. The game has become hugely profitable for the company, and has also inspired industry veterans, Activision, to apply a similar model for the up-and-coming Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4! To celebrate the success of the popular shooter, here's a matching set of Displate artwork by artist Gab Fernando, featuring various Fortnite characters! Ant-Man And The Wasp is the latest film in Marvel's Cinematic Universe series of films featuring popular superheroes. The film was released several months ago in the United States, and has recently been released in cinemas in Europe (delayed in order to avoid competing with the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia over the summer). The film is a direct sequel to Ant-Man, and takes place after the events of Civil War but slightly before the events of Infinity War, and continues the story arc of Scott Lang and his incredible shrinking suit developed by Hank Pym. The film has received mostly positive reviews from critics and fans, citing it as being a "Funnier and more light-hearted story" compared to that of some of the more recent films in the hugely successful Marvel franchise. The film has so far earned over $450m across all markets where it has been released, but some believe that the delayed release in Europe may have hindered its potential success, especially during an unprecedented heat-wave over the last few weeks. To celebrate the theatrical release of the film, here's some officially licenced Displate artwork featuring some of the key characters from Ant-Man And The Wasp!

Fortnite was originally released by Epic Games back in 2017 as an open-world multiplayer first-person survival game similar to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. However, since Epic Games introduced a free-to-play Battle Royale mode across all platforms (including mobile devices), the game quickly become a cultural phenomenon almost overnight! The game revolves around 100 players parachuting onto an island, with the sole intent of being the last player standing. Players are forced to a specific area of the map by a storm that surrounds the playing field, which gradually shrinks in size to encourage players to move to a safe area and to engage each other in combat. The game currently boasts over 125 million players across all platforms, and has become a huge financial success for Epic Games via the various micro-transactions in the game. Here's a collection of Displate artwork by artist Donnie, featuring some of the more popular characters in the game!
Microsoft's tent-pole Xbox franchise, Halo, has been going strong since 2001 when Bungie first released Halo: Combat Evolved for the original Xbox. Considered at the time to be the most advanced first-person shooter, it was the game that sold Xbox consoles and propelled Microsoft's Xbox onto the world stage as a major video game console, as well as cementing Master Chief as one of the most recognisable video game protagonists of all time! The halo franchise has had several spin-offs over the last two decades, such as Halo Wars and ODST, and the franchise itself has been handled by several different developers. In celebration of the series, here's a selection of Displate artwork by artist Rykker o7, featuring various characters from the popular franchise! Check out the full set by clicking the button above!
George Lucas released the iconic Star Wars film in 1997 - a sci-fi epic that penetrated all forms of popular culture in the decades that followed! The film introduced cinema audiences to numerous iconic characters, spaceships, locales, and of course, the lightsaber weapon used solely by those who possess "The force" within them - namely the Jedi and Sith. With each lightsaber being unique to its user, this fictional energy sword is supposed to only able to be wielded successfully by those who have trained extensively in the ways of the Jedi, although several other characters have exhibited the ability to use a lightsaber from time to time. The powerful energy blade is able to melt and burn through many substances with relative ease, as well as inflicting a cauterized wound when it comes into contact with flesh. The sword can also be used as a defensive weapon, with the user able to deflect projectiles and other lightsaber beams. In honour of this iconic weapon, here's a set of officially licenced Displate artwork featuring the various unique lightsabers as used by the different characters in the Star Wars films! Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently dividing fans of Star Wars, and is also struggling to earn back its $250 million budget at the box office, so far falling short by $70 million as it enters its second week in theatres. With Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom due to be launched within the next week, it seems unlikely that Solo will break even, with many people blaming the close release schedule to The Last Jedi, and behemoth May blockbusters such as Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. Poor box office performance aside, here's a matching set of official Displate artwork featuring some of the characters from the film for those who enjoyed it. Click the "Browse Set" button to view the complete set of Solo Displate artwork.

The film is reported to have cost Disney $250 million to make, and is expected to easily break that during its first week in theatres, despite mediocre critical reviews. To celebrate the release of Solo, here's a selection of Displate artwork featuring the loveable rogue himself, Han Solo!
As expected, Deadpool 2 is tearing up movie theatres around the world having already broken the record for an opening weekend for an R-rated film, and knocking Avengers: Infinity War from the top spot. The well-received sequel starring Ryan Reynolds has already earned back the $110 million budget, and looks on course to break the half billion Dollar threshold before it finishes its cinema run! The film has so far resonated well with audiences, and helps set-up a potential X-Force movie in the near future, progressing 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise. To celebrate the release of this fan-favourite, here's another selection of Displate artwork featuring the merc with a mouth, Deadpool!
