Stanley Kubrick's psychological horror film, The Shining, is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, and focuses around Jack Torrance - a recovering alcoholic and an aspiring writer - who accepts a job as an off-season caretaker of the Overlook Hotel during the winter, along with his family. His son, Danny, possesses psychic abilities known as "the shining", which allows him to view the horrific past of the hotel where a previous caretaker killed his family and then himself. Shortly after a snowstorm leaves the hotel isolated, Jack's sanity starts to decline, and he starts to exhibit similar supernatural possession as his predecessor. The film was released to mixed reviews by critics, but has since become one of the most iconic horror films with a huge cult following, as well as increasing the popularity of Stephen King novels, which in turn influenced more films based on the author's works. To celebrate this iconic film, here's a selection of Displate artwork based on the classic horror!

In the early part of the millennium, Warner Bros. negotiated a deal to create films based on J.K. Rowling's popular Harry Potter book series - the first of which was released back in 2001, finishing with the eighth instalment in 2011. Despite there only being seven books in the series, the final book, titled "The Deathly Hallows", was so long that Warner Bros. decided to split it up into two films. The film franchise was incredibly successful and is one of Hollywood's highest grossing overall, with the first and last films in the series generating the highest at the worldwide box office. The Harry Potter series continues to remain as a tent-pole franchise for the studio, with a prequel film called "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" being recently released in 2016, based on the book of the same name. To celebrate this phenomenal series of magical films, here's a matching set of Displate artwork by artist Chungkong Art, featuring minimal cover designs for each of the eight feature films.
