The Assassin's Creed franchise recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, having first been released on seventh generation consoles back in November 2007! Since then the series has become hugely popular, with a new game released almost every year since, all set in different historical time periods. The latest game, Assassin's Creed Origins, is actually chronologically the earliest, being set in ancient Egypt. To celebrate ten years of Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, here's a matching set of Displate artwork by artist Mequem Design, based on the various characters from the series to date!
Adventure Time is a hugely popular animated science fiction TV series, loosely based on the concept of Dungeons & Dragons. Set in a fictional post-apocalyptic land of Ooo, protagonist Finn and his shape-shifting dog / adopted brother enjoy many adventures alongside characters such as Princess Bubblegum, Ice King, BMO, and Marceline The Vampire Queen. Originally starting out as a viral internet short, Cartoon Network commissioned the creator, Pendleton Ward, to produce an entire series! The animated show was an instant hit, and has been running since 2010 with over 270 episodes to date! To celebrate this long-running show, here's a selection of Displate artwork by artist Alexandra Tirado, featuring the main characters from the fictional fairytale!
The overall design of the six chess pieces has not changed much since the original inception of the game, although the powers given to each piece has evolved over time, acquiring their current abilities in Spain during latter half of the 15th century. The rules of the game were standardised during the 19th century, which also included advanced moves such as "Castling" and "En Passant". Artist Michael Little has taken a centuries-old game and given it a steampunk spin, with this matching set of steampunk-inspired chess pieces. This Displate set takes the classic pieces - Pawn, Rook, Knight, Bishop, Queen, and King - and presents them as mobile metal characters on tricycles! This fantastic set would look great in a public space or in a games room or library!
